The person behind
the code.
The solo studio of Cain A. - a Virginia-based web developer who builds striking, highly functional websites and runs the digital marketing to match.
Over the years I’ve designed and developed everything from hauntingly elegant ghost tour brands to conversion-minded e-commerce stores, artist portfolios, and specialty service websites. My work is deeply informed by both technical expertise and storytelling design - pairing solid SEO, thoughtful user experience, and clean code with visuals that feel alive and memorable.
I got into this because I kept seeing the same thing - small businesses getting burned by agencies that overpromise and underdeliver, or stuck on DIY builders that cap out the moment you need something custom. The web should work harder for the people running real businesses, not just the ones with six-figure marketing budgets. That frustration became GridGhost.Dev.
My path into web development wasn’t conventional. I didn’t come up through a bootcamp or a CS degree - I came up through curiosity and stubbornness, reverse-engineering things I wanted to build until I understood them well enough to build them better. That self-taught foundation means I don’t just know what to do, I know why it works - and that makes all the difference when a project gets complicated.
Every project I take on gets the same treatment: a real discovery process, a strategy that accounts for your market and your goals, and a build that’s engineered to perform - not just look good in a mockup. I obsess over the details that actually move numbers: page speed, crawlability, conversion paths, mobile UX, and the kind of visual polish that makes visitors trust you before they even read a word.
Outside of client work, I spend a lot of time in the weeds of things most developers skip - accessibility audits, Core Web Vitals, structured data, edge cases in Lighthouse scores. Not because clients always ask for it, but because it’s the right way to build. The sites I put my name on are the kind I’d actually want to use myself.
I don’t outsource. I don’t hand you off. When you hire GridGhost.Dev, you’re getting one senior developer who’s accountable for the entire outcome - from the first wireframe to the DNS cutover and beyond. That’s the whole point.

Beyond Client Work
GridGhost.Dev also experiments - from micro-SaaS tools to open web resources - built out of curiosity and a desire to make the internet more useful and interesting.
I spend a lot of time tinkering with things nobody asked me to build: custom accessibility widgets, CSS animation libraries, browser-based utilities, and side projects that scratch a creative itch. Some of it ships publicly, some of it feeds back into client work as better tooling and faster workflows.
I’m an explorer of design trends, a builder of clever tools, and a constant learner pushing my dev chops further. The web moves fast - and staying sharp means building things that aren’t just billable. That curiosity is what keeps every client project feeling fresh instead of formulaic.
